MEd Ed Leader Acknowledgement Statement

1. The Master of Education in Educational Leadership (M.Ed. Ed. Leader) program at Ohio Dominican University is designed for practicing, licensed, classroom teachers. Applicants should have a valid, current license/certificate to be accepted.

Note: Alternative, temporary or substitute licenses may be accepted at the discretion of the Program Director. I understand that if I do not hold initial licensure, I will not be eligible to apply for an Ohio Principal’s License and must have access to a school or community classroom environment to successful complete the M.Ed. Ed. Leader Program.

2. The M.Ed. Ed. Leader coursework may be used for license/certificate renewal (if deemed appropriate by the state licensing agency and/or the school district’s LPDC).

3. The coursework itself does lead to initial principal licensure in Ohio. The Ohio Department of Education (ODE) may have additional requirements for the licensure. For example, one must pass the appropriate OAE exam. Any additional requirements are listed on the ODE website. It is the candidate’s responsibility to be aware of the requirements.

4. Assignments throughout the program require access to P-12 students, teachers, schools and/or districts. I understand that, in general, these assignments may be completed in my own classroom/school/district. Two assignments specifically require that I spend time in a district with a different population of students than those in my own district. If I am not currently employed as a teacher of P-12 students in a classroom setting, it is my responsibility to make arrangements to work with teachers/schools/ districts to complete the assignments.

5. There are four 1-hour courses (EDU 599A, B, C, D) which require more in-depth work with administrators, schools and districts, including 50 field hours per course. It is my responsibility to make arrangements to complete these experiences.

6. When all requirements are met, I, as the candidate, will submit the license application to ODE. ODE will then confirm with Ohio Dominican’s Registrar’s Office that all requirements have been met.
