Intervention Specialist Licensure - Acknowledgement Statement

1. Ohio Dominican University offers an approved Intervention Specialist (IS) Licensure (mild/moderate and moderate/intensive) program. Applicants must have the appropriate valid, current license/certificate to be accepted. Note: Alternative, temporary or substitute licenses are not accepted.

3. The licensure coursework may be used for license/certificate renewal (if deemed appropriate by the state licensing agency and/or the LPDC). However, if adding the IS License with another license I must meet all the requirements specific to the IS License. The coursework does not lead to initial licensure.

4. Several assignments throughout the licensure courses require access to P-12 students, classrooms/teachers, schools and/or districts. I understand that, in general, these assignments may be completed in my own classroom/school/district. If I am not currently employed as a teacher of P-12 students in a classroom setting, it is my responsibility to make arrangements to work with teachers/schools/ districts to complete the assignments.

5. The Ohio Department of Education (ODE) may have additional requirements for this licensure. For example, to add the Intervention Specialist License, one must pass the appropriate OAE exam and an OAE Foundations of Reading Exam. Additional requirements are listed on the ODE website. It is my responsibility as the licensure candidate to be aware of these requirements.

6. When all requirements are met, I, as the candidate, will submit the license application to ODE. ODE will then confirm with Ohio Dominican’s Registrar’s Office that all requirements have been met.

My electronic signature below indicates that I understand and agree to the above statements about the Intervention Specialist Licensure program at Ohio Dominican University.
